Zigmund Palffy

(Redirected from Ziggy Palffy)

Žigmund Pálffy (born May 5, 1972 in Skalica , Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey player, currently playing for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League.

He was drafted by New York Islanders in the second round of the 1991 NHL Draft and has played for two NHL teams: Islanders (from 1993 to 1999) and Los Angeles Kings (from 1999 till now).

A world-class sniper with elite puck-handling and skating skills, Pálffy plays a cerebral game that is often misunderstood or under-appreciated. But consistent production over the past five seasons proves he is a goal-scoring force. He has been among the ten leading scorers in the NHL several times.

Pálffy has represented both Slovakia and Czechoslavakia in international competitions, winning the Gold Medal with Slovakia in the 2002 World Championships.
