William Upski Wimsatt

William Upski Wimsatt (born 1973 in Chicago, Illinois) is an artist, journalist, author, entrepreneur, multi-issue organizer, philanthropist, organization-builder and lecturer. A college dropout, Wimsatt is often paid to speak at many college campuses. Wimsatt uses "Upski" as his middle name, but it is really his tag, meaning the name he used to write graffiti growing up in Chicago.

Once Wimsatt was writing on walls, now he has written three books to date. Bomb The Suburbs, his first book, is a unique collection of essays, stories, cartoons, interviews, disses, and parodies of the suburban mind-set.

No More Prisons, his second book, presented a much more mature Upski. The title is a reference to the Prison-industrial complex, and was released in conjunction with an underground rap album on Raptivism Records.

In 2004, Wimsatt founded the League of Pissed Off Voters, of which he is currently the Director. In 2004, The League released and Wimsatt co-edited (with Adrienne Maree Brown) How To Get Stupid White Men Out Of Office, a collection essays from youth organizers around the world who have swung elections or turned out the vote.
