What Is This? (previously known as Anthym) were a rock band that were formed before and played around the same time as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It has included some of the members of the aforementioned group at various points in time. The band featured members Jack Irons and Hillel Slovak who would later go on with Michael Balzary (also known as Flea) and Anthony Kiedis to form the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
