The West Midlands in its broad sense, refers to western area of The Midlands (central England). More specifically, the name is also used for other entities, including:

• The metropolitan county of the West Midlands, containing the conurbation at the heart of the region, centred on the cities of Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry.

• The official government West Midlands Region.

• The West Midlands constituency of the European Parliament.
