Wea

The Wea were a Native American tribe of the Ohio Country, sometimes considered a subdivision of the Miami tribe. Driven to the West by increased Euro-American settlement and Indian removal, they were confederated with the Kaskaskias, Peorias, and Piankeshaws to form the Confederated Peoria Tribe of first Kansas and now Oklahoma. The Wea were thought to be extinct in the early 90's due to ascimulation of the europeans. The bloodline of the last known chief of the Wea prior to relocation lives in Indiana; a state named after the natives. The chief was Jacco Godfrey. You can find more information from the Wea tribe themselves by contacting the Wea Indian Tribe at their website at[1]
