Born in Giblitsy , Kazimov Rayon , Ryazan Oblast, Russian SFSR on February 1, 1935. Married with two children. Selected as cosmonaut on March 3, 1973. Retired on October 17, 1988.

Flew as Flight Engineer on Soyuz 22 and Soyuz T-2.
