Vietnamese Holocaust

The Vietnamese Holocaust occurred as the result of South Vietnam's surrender to North Vietnam on April 30, 1975 during the Fall of Saigon.

The North Vietnamese rounded up all former Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Soldiers, members of the South Vietnamese government and all vietnamese that held any jobs connected to the United States Government in South Vietnam.

They were sent to "re-education" camps named by the Communist government in Hanoi throughout Vietnam, mainly to Northern Vietnam. Opponents who had spent time as prisoners in the "re-education" camps named them Death Camps.

Religious leaders and followers who did not pledge allegiance to the Communist ideology were sent to the camps for non-compliance.

It is estimated that over a million Vietnamese perished in the "re-education" camps.
