Variax is a line of electric guitars developed and marketed by Line6, an Agoura Hills, California manufacturer of electric guitars, amplfiers and effects equipment. The Variax is the first "modelling" guitar ever marketed. Using piezo pickups and digital signal processing technology, the Variax can simulate as many as 25 classic guitar (eg. Gibson, Fender, Gretsch...) tones. Variax can offer a wide variety of sounds and styles to a performer, but some listeners may still notice differences between the tones produced by a Variax guitar and those of standard electric guitars.
