Unitarian Universalist Society of Spain

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Spain (Sociedad Unitaria Universalista de España, acronym SUUE) is the organizing body for Unitarian Universalism in Spain. The SUUE is a member of the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU) since June 2001, and has fellowships in Barcelona and Madrid.

The organization considers itself to inherit from a tradition of liberal religion in Spain. A key figure in historical Unitarian Universalism, Michael Servetus, was a Spaniard. Other Spanish historical figures such as the writer and liberal religious politician José María Blanco-White , a group of 19th century liberal-minded reformers called the Krausists (because of their common interest in the work of German philosopher Karl Krause , creator of the concept of "panentheism") were Unitarians or were inspired by Unitarian leaders, such as W.E. Channing and Theodore Parker. The Spanish Unitarian Universalists honor this tradition and wants to deepen and renew it in our time.
