Ellen Tyne Daly (born February 21 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American Tony and Emmy Award winning actress. She is the daughter of actor James Daly and the sister of actor Timothy Daly . Her grandfather was former Chief Justice of the United States and Governor of California Earl Warren.

Tyne Daly is perhaps best known for her performances on the television series Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy. She won her Tony for Gypsy.

Daly was married to actor/director Georg Stanford Brown from 1966 to 1990. They have three daughters.

She studied at Brandeis University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts .

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
