Tsiolkovsky (Gundam)

Type space exploration ship
Length unknown
Armament none
Ships of the class Tsiolkovsky
Designer Kazumi Fujita

The space exploration ship Tsiolkovsky was designed by George Glenn, the first known Coordinator, for use in the manned exploration of Jupiter. In Cosmic Era 15, Glenn left Earth as Tsiolkovsky's captain. As he departed, he broadcast a message that revealed his genetically engineered nature. He also included in the message detailed instructions on how to replicate his enhancements, and coined the term "Coordinator" to describe genetically modified humans. In CE 22, the Tsiolkovsky arrived at Jupiter, and there Glenn made an astonishing discovery on the moon Europa: the fossilized skeleton of a "winged whale", proving the existence of extraterrestrial life. In CE 29, the Tsiolkovsky returned to Earth, and Glenn presented the fossil as "Evidence 01".

The Tsiolkovsky is named after Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The ship is visually identical to the huge cargo ship Jupitris from Zeta Gundam.
