Trish Draper
Patricia "Trish" Draper (born 2 April 1959), Australian
politician, has been a Liberal member of the
Australian House of Representatives since
March 1996, representing the Division of Makin, South Australia. She was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and was
educated at the University of South Australia. She was a nurse before entering politics. Draper
In May 2004, Draper became embroiled in a controversy about her use of parliamentary travel privileges to take her former boyfriend Derick Sands—who had worked as a pornographic photographer—on a trip to Europe in 2000. This was deeply ironic, as she had frequently campaigned as a 'family values' candidate opposed to pornography.
A poll by the Adelaide Advertiser in August found her trailing ALP candidate Tony Zappia 56-44 on a two party preferred basis. However in the election of 2004 she once again won the seat of Makin.
