The word train from the Latin traho ("to draw or pull") means "that which is drawn along". (Wiktionary entry). Generally trains are a series of connected animals and/or vehicles that move together, usually along a planned route, which may or may not be constrained by a guideway.

• Most commonly it refers to a train on a rail transport system.

• In clothing a train refers to the part of a some gowns that trail behind the wearer, for example a bridal train on a wedding dress
• A sperm train is a (slightly controversial) theory that sperm move together.
