Toronto Suburban Railway

Like the Toronto and York Radial Railway, the Toronto Suburban Railways was an interurban operator with routes outside of Toronto to:

  • Guelph
  • Weston
  • Davenport
  • High Park
  • Woodbridge

Began in 1894 as Toronto Suburban Street Railway (merger of City and Suburban Electric Railway Company 1892 and Davenport Street Railway 1892) and changed its name to TSR in 1900. It was taken over by Canadian National Railways in 1911 and finally by the City of Toronto in 1923. The system was taken over by the Toronto Transportation Commission in 1927 and many of these routes later abandoned as the TTC focused on operations within the city limits.

Roster

  • Preston Car and Coach 24 - later operated as CNR car in Fort William ON
