Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (1999) is a skateboarding video game for PlayStation, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, and N-Gage featuring professional skater Tony Hawk and the first in a series of such games. The games are developed by Neversoft and published by Activision.

Due to the success of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Activision released Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (2000, for PlayStation, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Xbox, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (2001, for PlayStation, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color), and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (2002, for PlayStation, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and Xbox).

The fifth game in the series, Tony Hawk's Underground (THUG), was released in 2003 for PS2, GameCube, Xbox and Game Boy Advance. This game differs not only in name from the previous titles but also focuses on the idea of story mode, where the player progresses their character from a local skater to a sponsored pro skater. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 was released in October 2004, and it is quite similar to its prequel and features many old faces, including Eric Sparrow (your previous "friend" from THUG).

The Tony Hawk video games are largely responsible for the recent resurgence in popularity of skateboarding amongst children.
