Thomas Gage (botanist)

Sir Thomas Gage (1781 - 1820) was an English botanist, one of the famous Gage family of Firle , Sussex. The woodland flower Gagea is named in his honour. He introduced a small green plum to England, first growing it at Firle Place. This fruit was later named greengage, after Gage.
