The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Fighter is a reality television series aired in the United States, produced by Spike TV.

Sixteen prospective fighters in middleweight and light heavyweight divisions trained under Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell in fall of 2004. The finale was broadcast live on April 9, 2005, in which the two finalists in each weight class faced off for a contract with the UFC.

Three contracts were eventually awarded; in the light heavyweight division, Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar fought for the full three rounds. Griffin won a 29-28 unanimous decision, but Bonnar was offered a contract as well based on his performance. In the middleweight division, Diego Sanchez beat Kenny Florian with a TKO to win the other UFC contract.
