The Idiot (1977) is an album by Iggy Pop.
David Bowie wrote most of the lyrics and the music for this album. His band's musicians played some of the instruments, but Bowie and Pop played most of the guitars and keyboards. The lyrics are ironic and hurtful and the music is dark and haunting; it was a difficult time for the duo, who were poor and cold in their flat in Berlin, with songs aimed at old memories and hopes for better times.
The album's cover photo is similar to Bowie's 1977 album Heroes. The song "China Girl" from this album was re-adopted by Bowie for his 1983 album Let's Dance and became a huge hit.
