Tepic is the capital city of the Mexican state of Nayarit.

It is located in the west-central part of the country, at . It stands at an altitude above sea level of some 915 metres, on the banks of the Río Mololoa .

The city was founded in 1542. In the year 2000 census, it reported a population of some 207,000 people.
