Tacoma Narrows

The Tacoma Narrows, a strait, is part of Puget Sound. It is created by the close approach of the Kitsap Peninsula to the Washington state mainland. Spanned by the Tacoma Narrows Bridge (Washington State Route 16) that connects the city of Tacoma to Gig Harbor, the Narrows can be said to stretch from Point Defiance in the north to Day Island in the south. It is approximately one mile wide.
