Tachov (German: Tachau) is a city in Pilsen Region of the Czech Republic.
History
The area was inhabited by humans around 8,000-6,000 BCE. First written document mentioning Tachov comes from 1115. During reign of Premysl Otakar II castle was built. During Hussite wars city was several times besieged and conquered. Thirty Years War damaged the city considerably. In 1945 German speaking inhabitants (majority in the city) were expelled.
