"Super Freak" is a 1981 hit single, written, produced, and performed by Rick James for the Motown label. The song, which reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, features background vocals from Motown lablemates The Temptations, the bass singer in which is James' uncle Melvin Franklin.
