Special Agent is the United States government's title for a detective or investigator of the Series 0081 or 1811 in the Office of Personnel Management or OPM handbook. These personnel may be criminal or non-criminal investigators. Such persons are usually armed and have the power to arrest and conduct investigations into the violation of federal laws. Just about every federal agency has some type of special agent.
