Sony Entertainment Television

This article is not to be confused with Sony Pictures Television.

Sony Entertainment Television is the name of two cable television channels available in Latin America and India, both owned by Sony.

Latin America

When SET Latin America began transmissions in 1995, it was a premium entertainment cable television channel that aired movies and series from Sony Pictures Entertainment. When the premium service failed in the late 1990s, it became a basic cable television channel.

SET Latin America shows new series from US television networks such as Will & Grace, American Idol, Extreme Makeover, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Joan of Arcadia, Scrubs, My Wife and Kids, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Everybody Loves Raymond and reruns of shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Seinfeld, Mad About You and Dawson's Creek.

Unlike most television networks in Latin America, which air all the imported shows dubbed, Sony airs all shows as subtitled (in Portuguese or Spanish, depending on the country).

India

According to its web site, Sony Entertainment Television "is dedicated to provide the best in Hindi family entertainment to the largest percentage of the Indian population-the young adult.

"[...] Sony Entertainment Television is seen in over 40 million households throughout India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Middle East."
