Shelley Jackson (born 1963) is an artist and hypertext author.
Born in the Philippines, Jackson grew up in Berkeley, California with her sister Pam. She received her AB in art from Stanford University and an MFA in creative writing from Brown University. She is most widely recognized for her hypertext "Patchwork Girl" published by Eastgate Systems in 1995, a reworking of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein". Another one of her interesting projects is the "Skin Project," a "mortal work of art". Jackson composed a short fiction to be tattooed upon volunteers, one word at a time. The participants are known as "words". A third project is the so-called "Doll Games," co-authored with her sister Pam.
