Shaw Cable

Shaw is Canada's second largest cable television operator, after Rogers Communications. Its headquarters are based in Alberta. At one time, it had a blue logo with a Canadian maple leaf. Before the late 1990s, Shaw operated in select markets in Ontario, but swapped with Rogers Communications in order to centre its operations in western Canada.

History

  • 1995 - Shaw buys Classicomm Cable.
  • 2001 - A swap with Rogers Cable performed, in which most of Rogers's western Canadian holdings went to western-based Shaw, while most of Shaw's eastern holdings went to eastern-based Rogers.
