Seymour Glass

Seymour Glass, the oldest of the J. D. Salinger's fictional Glass Family, committed suicide while he was on his honeymoon. He is a poet and deeply believes in Zen thinking. His closest family member was his younger brother Buddy Glass , who is often the narrator of the glass family stories. Seymour's suicide is told of in the short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish. seymour also looms large in the other stories of the glass family series, notably raise high the roofbeams, carpenters , seymour : an introduction, franny and zooey . the last published Salinger story hapworth 16, 1924(new yorker , june 19, 1965), is the only published story to be written in Seymour's first person narrative, and records his experiences at camp, as a seven year old.
