Scott Norwood

Scott Norwood (born July 17, 1960 in Miami, Florida) is a former NFL kicker who played his entire career for the Buffalo Bills. He is most well-known for missing the 47-yard field goal ("wide right") at the end of Super Bowl XXV, giving the New York Giants the victory.

The field goal miss was spoofed in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, in which fictional Miami Dolphins place kicker Ray Finkle misses a key field goal during a Super Bowl game, which eventually leads to his kidnapping both Dan Marino and the Dolphins mascot for revenge.

The field goal miss was also the central feature of the indie film Buffalo ’66, where a man just released from prison seeks to kill the kicker for missing the kick and thus ruining his life.
