The School of Advanced Study is a listed organisation of the University of London. It was established on 1 August 1994 and has ten member institutes. These are:

• Institute of Classical Studies
• Institute of Commonwealth Studies
• Institute of English Studies
• Institute of Germanic Studies
• Institute of Historical Research
• Institute of Latin American Studies
• Institute of Romance Studies
• Institute of United States Studies
• Warburg Institute

The institutes are research-based and open to postgraduate students only.
