Sandra W. Bradshaw

Sandra "Sandy" W. Bradshaw (???? - September 11, 2001), flight attendant.

She was born and raised in Climax , North Carolina, and graduated from Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur. Following her younger sister, Sandra trained to become a flight attendant. She lived in Greensboro with her husband, a US Airways pilot and her children while working part-time for United Airlines.

Bradshaw died at age 38 in the crash of United Airlines flight 93 in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. She was able to contact her husband during the hijacking and reported that the crew and passengers were planning to fight the hijackers. Her last words were "We're all running to first class, I've got to go. Bye."

Such instinctive actions by flight attendants were a notable feature of the attacks that day. The role of attendants in flight security has been recognized and expanded as a result.

Survivors include her husband, Phil; daughter, Alexandria, 2; son, Shenan, 1; step-daughter, 16.
