Sabarkantha is a district in Northeast of Gujarat state of India.

Geography and Political Facts

The administrative headquarters of this district is Himmatnagar , about 80 km from Ahmedabad. Sabarkantha has a population of over 2 million in its 7,390 km² area.

Sabarkantha borders with Rajasthan state in the Northeast, Banaskantha and Mehsana districts in West, Gandhinagar and Kheda districts in South and Panchmahals district in the East.

Other details

Sabar dairy, 2nd biggest Co-operative dairy (even bigger than famous Amul) producing 10 lakh liters of milk a day is located in Himmatnagar.

Shamlaji hosts a 3-week long fair on the full moon of the Hindu New Year.
