Russell, Ontario

Russell, is a small township located south-east of Canada's capital of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, on the Castor River. Originally the village of Russell was an agricultural village, but now Russell has become a bedroom community in recent times, because of its proximity to Ottawa. Residential Construction is booming as well as population. Despite this, there is still a large agricultural presence in the area as is plainly visible on a drive to the village.

According to the 2001 Statistics Canada Census:

  • Population: 12,412
  • % Change (1996-2001): 4.5
  • Dwellings: 4,105
  • Area (sq. km.): 198.96
  • Density (persons per sq. km.): 62.4
