Robert Atkins (politician)

The Rt Hon Sir Robert Atkins (born 1946) is a Conservative Party politician from the United Kingdom. He was the Member of Parliament for Preston North and South Ribble from 1979 to 1997 and became a Member of the European Parliament for the North West England region in 1999.

He is a member of the Privy Council and was a junior minister in the following positions:

  • DTI Minister (1987 to 1989)
  • Minister of Transport (1989 to 1990)
  • Minister of Sport (1990 to 1992)
  • Minister of State, Northern Ireland (1992 to 1994)
  • Minister of State for Environment and Countryside (1994 to 1995)
