Rich Gannon (born December 20, 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a National Football League quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. He was drafted in the 4th round (98th overall) in 1987 by the New England Patriots, who immediately traded him to the Minnesota Vikings. In 1993 he was traded by Minnesota to the Washington Redskins, and again in 1995 to the Kansas City Chiefs. In February 1999 he was signed as a free agent by the Raiders. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in his first year as a Raider, and again in 2000 and 2001, both times becoming the Pro Bowl MVP. Gannon was named the NFL MVP after a record-setting 2002 season, which helped the Raiders advance to Super Bowl XXXVII, which they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-21. Rich's career was blighted by a shoulder injury in 2003 and a serious, season-ending neck injury in 2004.
