Reigate and Banstead is a local government district with borough status in east Surrey. It covers the towns of Reigate, Banstead , Redhill and Horley .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972. It was a merger of the former borough of Reigate with Banstead urban district and part of Dorking and Horley Rural District .
