Ray Nitschke

Raymond Ernest Nitschke (December 29, 1936 - March 8, 1998) was an American Football player who played linebacker for the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. He played from 1958 to 1972. He was named the greatest linebacker in NFL history in 1969.

Nitschke was born in Elmwood Park, Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978.

Nitschke appeared in the 1974 movie The Longest Yard as Bogdanski.
