Porky's

Porky's is a 1982 movie about the sexual escapades of teenagers at a 1950s Florida high school. It spawned two sequels (1983 and 1985, respectively) of its own and many imitators of the 1980s teen-aimed sexploitation comedy genre.

Critically lambasted for its portrayals of misogyny, these films have nonetheless been popular with teenage viewing audiences (especially since their releases on home video) for their explicit sexual situations, although they are rather tame in comparison to more recent films such as American Pie.

Although it was filmed in Florida by an American director, Porky's was funded and produced by a Canadian production company, which means that it is technically classified as a Canadian film. Furthermore, according to some calculations, Porky's is the highest-grossing Canadian film of all time (alternative estimates place The Care Bears Movie slightly higher). This surprising, and (for Canadian filmmakers) rather depressing fact is often used as an argument when pressure groups try to persuade the Canadian government to give more support to its film industry.

The first film's director, Bob Clark, also directed its first sequel, while James Komack directed the third and last film. The movie featured Canadian actress Kim Cattrall in one of her first major roles.

In 2002, radio shock jock Howard Stern's production company acquired the remake rights to the film.
