Pvt Pierre Cruzatte was a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition. He was known for his entertainment.

He accidentally shot Lewis in the thigh when they were hunting, causing bleeding and pain. This also caused Lewis to believe that the Native Americans were attacking. Lewis went about forgiving him in rather good will for the injury. Lewis had a slow, painful recovery.
