Philippine peso (piso)

The Philippine peso, like the United States dollar, is descended from the Spanish pieces of eight. It is divided into 100 centavos. In the mid 20th Century, when the language on the currency was changed from English to Tagalog, they were labeled, in Tagalog, piso and sentimo, respectively.
