Phantom of the Paradise

Phantom of the Paradise (1974) is a cult classic that was written and directed by Brian De Palma.

Although this movie may not be as well known as some other cult films that came out around the same time (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc.), it is as equally brilliant.

The story follows a music composer by the name of Winslow Leach (William Finley) and his journey through which he has his cantata Faust is stolen by famed music producer Swam (Paul Williams). Winslow, in desperate search of his music, has his face mutilated, thus he must wear a mask.

The soundtrack was composed and written by Paul Williams, a very talented musical fellow.

Phantom of the Paradise stars William Finley, Paul Williams, and Jessica Harper .

The city of Winnipeg hosts the Phantompalooza festival on April 23 in celebration of the film connection with the city.
