Penedo is a municipality/county in the state of Alagoas in Brazil. The population in 2004 is 59,429.
Founded in 1956, this city stays 173Km far from Maceió. There are, in Penedo, many important testimonials of Portuguese and Dutch colonizations and beautiful landscapes. There are many preserved churches built through the 17th century. Some of them are: Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Correntes; Catedral de Nossa Senhora dos Pretos; Igreja Santa Maria dos Anjos.
