Pat Mills

Pat Mills is one of the major figures in the British comic book industry as both an editor and writer. His comics are noted for their violence, anti-authoritarianism and black humour. As development editor of 2000 AD Mills was the chief architect of creating Judge Dredd and was responsible for a large share of the Dredd scripts during its first two years.

He started his career as sub-editor for D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd before leaving them in 1971 to become a freelancer. He revitalised British boys' comics in the 1970s, creating Battle Picture Weekly, Action and 2000 AD for IPC Magazines. Mills also had a hand in IPC's line of Horror comics aimed at girls such as "Chiller". Other comics he has created include Crisis and Toxic! .

As a writer he is responsible for Charley's War , with artist Joe Colquhoun, for Battle; Ro-Busters, ABC Warriors, Nemesis the Warlock, Sláine and others for 2000AD; and Marshal Law, with Kevin O'Neill, for Marvel Comics's Epic imprint, among others.

He has also written the Franco-Belgian comic Requiem Chevalier Vampire with Olivier Ledroit .
