Paramount Theater is an Art Deco movie theater located in downtown Oakland, California, designed by architect Timothy L. Pflueger , who also designed San Francisco's Castro Theatre

Timeline

• Construction was completed in 1931;
• Closed in 1970 due to financial hardships;
• Designated a California Registered Historic Landmark in 1976;
• Declared a National Historic Landmark on May 5, 1977.

The theater has since reopened after undergoing an extensive restoration and currently houses the Oakland Ballet , Oakland East Bay Symphony , as well as showing movies.
