Paramount Comedy Channel

The Paramount Comedy Channel is a television channel shown in the UK. As its name suggests it is owned by Paramount Pictures and concentrates on comedy.

It was originally intended to launch a UK version of Nick at Nite on the same channel as Nickelodeon, as in the US, but the name of the station was changed to The Paramount Channel prior to launch. The original schedule was a mixture of comedy and drama, including Beauty and the Beast. The drama shows were later dropped and the schedule became 100% comedy, hence the change of name. The channel later acquired a separate channel, increased its broadcasting hours, and was joined on Sky Digital by Paramount 2.

Paramount was not the first all-comedy channel in the UK; that distinction goes to The Comedy Channel, which had closed some years earlier.

Available on Sky Digital, Freeview and some cable services.
