Paktia Province

Paktia province is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the east of the country. Its capital is Gardiz. It used to cover Khost province, which was split off recently.

Doctor Najibullah Ahmadzai the former president of Afghanistan is also from Paktia province. He was born in Melan Vally. Mohammad Abid Amiri is also from Paktia province. He's son of Mohammad Rahim Amiri.

Paktia is made up of 12 Districts (District Centers are given in parentheses):

  • Dand Wa Patan (Ghondai)
  • Gardez (Gardez)
  • Zadran (Waza)
  • ZaZi (Ali Khel)
