Operation Polarfuchs

The German XXXVI Corps, consisting of both German and Finnish troops, carried out Operation Polarfuchs (in English: Operation Arctic Fox) against Soviet defences at Salla in July 1941. The operation took placed during the initial phase of the Continuation War and as a part of Operation Barbarossa. Polarfuchs formed a part of the larger Operation Silberfuchs, which aimed at capturing the Soviet port at Murmansk.
