Northmead is a suburb of Sydney, Australia, located about 28km north west of the Sydney CBD.
The name of the suburb derives from its location as being the "northern meadow" of the Governors Domain, when the government of New South Wales was located at Parramatta, 5 km to the south.
It is now a hilly low- to medium-density suburb of houses, townhouses and apartment buildings framed on its eastern edge by natural bushland.
