Northgate Mall

Northgate Mall is a shopping mall in the Northgate neighborhood of north central Seattle, Washington. It was built in 1950 over part of Thornton Creek, on land that had once been a cranberry bog, and has been referred to as the first regional, covered mall in the United States, though this is disputed. Northgate was fully enclosed in 1974. It is bounded on the north by N.E. Northgate Way (formerly N.E. 110th Street), on the west by 1st Avenue N.E., on the south by N.E. 103rd Street, and on the east by 5th Avenue N.E. The Northgate neighborhood and Northgate Way were both named after the mall.
