Generally North Vancouver is the suburb of Vancouver on the North Side of the Burrard Inlet except the area that is in West Vancouver. North Vancouver is built on the side of the North Shore Mountains. Being close to the montains it offers some world renowned bike trails and is commonly featured in mountain bike films.

There are two municipalities in Greater Vancouver that use the name North Vancouver. These are:

• North Vancouver, British Columbia (City) Pop. 44,303 (2001 Census)
• North Vancouver, British Columbia (district municipality) Pop. 82,310 (2001 Census)

North Vancouver is also an Federal Electoral District North Vancouver (electoral district)
