Nobleton is a suburban community in the northwestern part of the Toronto Area that is located south of the Oak Ridges Moraine. It is in the southwestern part of King. The population is around 4,000 (1990s). It is located 50 km NW of Toronto, 7 km W of Highway 400 via King Road, 10 km W of King City, about 62 km S of Barrie, S of Schomberg, about 6 km N of Kleinburg and about 6 km E of Bolton. It is accessed by a road linking Woodbridge and Schomberg that was Highway 27, an old highway that used to link primarily from Toronto and Barrie and King Road linking Bolton and King City along with Oak Ridges and Old School Road in southern Caledon.

Geography

Nobleton is located at , at an elevation of approximately 300m.

The Humber flows in the southwestern part with a conservation area coverin the southwest.

The Oak Ridges Moraine is to the north and is covered with pine forests with a few other types of trees and lakes to the north and the northeast including Nobleton Lakes located nearly 2 to 3 km north of Nobleton which include two lakes and a golf club. Forests are almost sporadically situated in the valleys throughout Nobleton including to the east and into the southeastern portion. The farmlands lie to the west, the south and the east and sproadically to the north. The power lines lie to the west and to the east and both link up to central Ontario.

History

The history of Nobleton was a rural community. The urbanization was mainly in the southwestern part. In the 1950s and the 1960s, large housing developments began in the northeastern and the northwestern part up to the 1990s.

Nobleton is represented on King Township council by Ward 2.

Nobleton is served by both public and Catholic separate schools for elementary and junior-age children. In the public system, Nobleton Junior Public School and Nobleton Senior Public School are within the community. Pre-high school Catholic children attend St. Mary Catholic School.

A small ice rink is used mainly by a peewee hockey team for the Ontario Stars Hockey League .
